Teri Nadine Estabilio 61, of Bremerton, Wash., died May 17 at a private care facility. Born in Kohala, she managed a deli and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Private services. Richard Adam Ignacio, 96, of Honokaa died Aug. 31 Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Waipunalei, he worked for Holmes and Narver, Kaiwiki and Ookala sugar plantations, Jas W. Glover and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 23) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Eulogy at 9:30 a.m. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at church cemetery. Survived by wife, Irene Ignacio; daughters, Kaylene (Gary) Torres Sr. and Kelly (Denis) Gibo; in-laws, Lorraine Gonsalves, Robert (Virginia) Gonsalves and Violet Gonsalves; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. David Kainoa Okala Jamora, 58, of Keaau died July 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a Professional Protective Services security guard and judo sensei with Puna Hongwanji Mission Judo Club. Vernon Maunalani Kaniho Sr., 72, of Waimea died Aug. 17 at home. Born in Waikii Ranch, he was a ranch steward and cowboy at Waikii Ranch and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kamuela Ward. Christine Barbadillo Saplan, 97, of Hilo died Sept. 4 at home. Born in Pahoa, she was co-owner with her late husband, Juan, of numerous business ventures bearing the Saplan name, including Saplan Bus Service, graduated from Hilo High School in 1945, sang in bands and acted in community theater, attended numerous churches, was active in community pursuits, including the Filipino Community Club, traveling, music, fitness and family. Private services held. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by sister, Julita Acojido; children, Yolanda (Joe) Gutierrez, Sandra (Jim) Pedersen, John (Marilyn) Saplan Jr., Deidre (Wendell) Sumic and Joan (Sean) McWilliams; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
